The Korat International Horticultural Expo 2029 is being prepared in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), to run from 10 November 2029 to 28 February 2030. Its theme, Nature and Greenery: Envisioning the Green Future, brings together nature, biodiversity, local knowledge and new ideas in horticulture for a more sustainable future. On 1 September 2026 the Thai Cabinet moved the venue from Khong District to Pak Chong District, so older sources may still name the previous site. These details come from AIPH (the International Association of Horticultural Producers), the Cabinet resolution and government news from October 2026.
More than a flower show: a chance for green travel
The Expo is a chance to lift tourism across Korat, well beyond the venue in Pak Chong, by linking it to the nature, culture and communities nearby. Sikhio stands out for its landscape, its geological stories and its community life, and it is one of the five districts in the Khorat UNESCO Global Geopark area. From the Expo to the nature of Chan Ngam Mountain
The Chan Ngam Mountain Nature Trail is a 2 km walk made for going slowly. Try it as forest bathing: use all five senses, listen to the birds, feel the wind and the shade, and hear the stories in the rock along the way. The trail map and its safety notes are on the Wellness page.
Khao Yai Thiang and Lam Takhong: nature and clean energy
Khao Yai Thiang, 15–18 min by car from the resort, looks out over the Lam Takhong reservoir, the ridges and the cuesta landscape. The wind turbines along the route tell a story of clean energy, which makes it a good fit for a day out that is mindful of conservation.
Learn local knowledge through natural-colour craft
A natural-dye workshop using hematite, part of BD EARTHDYE, lets you make a piece of your own while you learn the story of the land, and it brings income to the community. See it with our other activities around Sikhio.
