Every way to get from Bangkok to Sikhio by car, train, bus or from the airports, and what to know about the drive up the hill.

Getting from Bangkok to Sikhio is easier than most people expect. It is ≈ 210 km, 2.5–3 h by car, and you can also come by train, bus or van. This guide covers every way to travel from Bangkok to Sikhio in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), plus what to know about the last stretch up the hill to ChanNgarm Mountain View Resort.

The short version

From Distance · time How
Bangkok ≈ 210 km · 2.5–3 h Car · train · bus or van to Sikhio
Don Mueang / Suvarnabhumi airports ≈ 200–230 km · ≈ 3 h Car · bus or train to Sikhio

With family or lots of luggage, a car is easiest. Travelling solo or as a couple and happy not to drive? The train or bus works well, as long as you plan the last stretch from Sikhio town up to the resort.

Driving from Bangkok to Sikhio

There is one main route and it is easy to remember. Leave Bangkok on Highway 1 (Phahonyothin Road), then join Highway 2 (Mittraphap Road) past Saraburi and Pak Chong. Turn off at Sikhio and follow the resort signs up the hill.

Our tips:

  • Allow extra time on long weekends. This is the main road to the north-east, so set off earlier during holidays.
  • Break the drive in Pak Chong. Its cafés and farms make a good stop, and from there it is under an hour to the resort (≈ 54 min).
  • Arrive before dark the first time. The resort sits on a hillside about 120 metres above Mittraphap Road, and the last stretch is a winding road up the hill. It is easy in daylight; at night, drive slowly and follow the resort signs.
  • Parking: Free, on site.

You can open the route in Google Maps from our Getting here page.

By train to Sikhio

Trains run from Bangkok to Ban Mai Samrong / Sikhio station. From the station it is ≈ 12 km to the resort, ≈ 15 min by taxi or local hired car.

By bus or van to Sikhio

Buses and vans run from Bangkok to Sikhio. Before you buy a ticket, check that your service stops in Sikhio, so you don't end up in Korat city. From Sikhio town, take a taxi or a local hired car up to the resort.

From Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi airport

Both airports are ≈ 200–230 km away, ≈ 3 h by road. If you are flying in to explore Korat, renting a car at the airport and driving yourself is the easiest option; otherwise take a bus or train to Sikhio.
